Gardaí arrested a man (21) last night and recovered five shotguns and a bag of ammunition after the search of a car near Rathcoole, Co Dublin.
The man was driving towards a Garda checkpoint, set up as part of Operation Crossover to target gangland activities, at around 7.00 p.m., when he tried to escape.
He is being held in Clondalkin Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
