A 71-year-old man has been arrested by police in the North in relation to a murder almost 40 years ago.
PSNI detectives investigating the murder of Ellen McDowell in 1974, made the arrest in Newtownards, Co Down today.
The 21-year-old was killed by a shot from a passing car in April 1974 as she walked home with her boyfriend in the Shankhill area of Belfast.
The suspect is being questioned at Bangor police station about the murder and other offences, the PSNI said in a statement.
