British police investigating the murder of Northern Ireland human rights lawyer Ms Rosemary Nelson today arrested a man near Bristol.

The man (29) was detained at Burnham-on-Sea, according to a spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary.

The inquiry is being headed by the deputy Chief Constable Colin Port.

Mrs Nelson died when a loyalist booby trap bomb exploded under her car outside her home in Lurgan, Co Armagh, in March l999.

A spokesman confirmed the man detained today was being questioned about alleged terrorist offences. He is being held at a police station in England.

Nobody has yet been charged with Ms Nelson's murder.
