A Dungannon, Co Tyrone man was remanded in custody on an attempted murder charge when he appeared at Cookstown Magistrates court yesterday. Mr John Paul Bell (18), of Dunavon Park, is accused of attempting to murder a man in his late 20s in Dungannon early on Tuesday.

The charge arises out of a stabbing. Mr Bell's next court appearance will be on February 17th. An RUC member told the court that in answer to the charge Mr Bell replied: "I did not do it. It was an accident".
