A 27-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a policeman was hit by a stolen car in Co Down.
The police officer was hit while responding to reports of attempts to steal a car at Toll House Park in Newry yesterday morning.
The car, a Subaru Impreza, was reported missing from Newtownabbey on Tuesday.
A 25-year-old man was also arrested and has been charged with burglary, breach of bail vehicle theft and criminal damage.
A car previously stolen after a break-in at Newry’s Bernish Crescent was recovered at the scene. Both men are expected to appear in court later today.
