Man (71) held after €35,000 in cocaine seized

The half kilo haul was concealed on a 71-year-old British man who arrived at the port by ferry, customs officials said. They believe the drugs were destined for the Dublin market.

The man was arrested and taken to Santry Garda Station.

Today's haul follows a seizure of cannabis resin, also worth around €35,000, in Dublin last night.

Gardaí seized the drugs after stopping a on Kylemore Road, south west Dublin just after 9pm.

Two men and a woman, all in their early 20s, were arrested and are being questioned under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Rathmines, Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda Stations.
