A 43-YEAR-OLD man who died in a house fire near Castlebar, Co Mayo, early yesterday is believed to have died from smoke inhalation.

The victim was named locally yesterday as Kieran Mullaney, a milk delivery driver, who lived in the townland of Currane, near Ballyvary, about six miles from Castlebar.

Firemen using breathing apparatus discovered Mr Mullaney’s remains in his bungalow home after the alarm had been raised by one of his neighbours about 12.30am

The body was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar yesterday for a postmortem.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
