Mr David Lawlor, with an address at Edgewood Lawns, Corduff Dublin, was remanded in custody for a week.
A special sitting of Dublin District Court was told that, when charged with the murder, he replied. "I won't say anything now." When charged with rape, he said. "No comment.
Mr Lawlor, married with one child, was arrested in Blanchardstown yesterday and taken to Cabra Garda station, where he was questioned throughout the day.

Del Insp Derek Byrne told Judge William Earley that he had cautioned Mr Lawlor and then charged him at Cabra Garda station with the rape and murder of Ms Rynn at Tolka Valley Park, Blanchardstown, on December 22nd last.
Del Insp Byrne asked that the accused man be remanded in custody for a week.
Ms Bambury said she could not oppose the application.
Judge Earley asked. "Is Mr Lawlor working?"
Ms Bambury said he was employed until this morning but he believes that employment may not be available to him as and from now".
"If that's the case, I'll grant legal aid", the judge said.
He remanded Mr Lawlor in custody to appear before the court at 10.30 a.m. next Tuesday.
