A 28-year-old man has died in a house fire in Cork city this morning.
The body of the deceased, named locally as Terrance Porter, was found in the sitting room of the property on Kerry Rd in the Mayfield area shortly after the alarm was raised at 6am.
A neighbour tried unsuccessfully to rescue the man and was treated in hospital for cuts from broken news.
A port mortem on the body will be carried out tomorrow. An investigation into how the fire started is underway.
