A 19-year-old man today pleaded guilty to the murder of Mary-Ann Leneghan.

Michael Johnson also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of her friend as well as kidnapping the girls.

Mary-Ann (16) died from a stab wound to the neck last May in an attack that police have described as "horrendous".

Mary-Ann, whose father is from Co Mayo, and her friend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were abducted from a car park in Reading on May 6th by a group of up to six men in their late teens or early twenties.

They were driven to a guest house where they were sexually assaulted and then taken in a car to a local park where Mary-Ann was killed and her friend shot.
