BWG Foods is to expand its chain of Mace franchised convenience stores in Ireland with the creation of 750 new jobs.

BWG Foods is to expand its chain of Mace franchised convenience stores in Ireland with the creation of 750 new jobs.

In a statement today, the group said it was adopting a new development strategy that will see it open a further 30 outlets in Ireland at a cost of over €50 million.

It said it intends to focus on developing larger, supermarket-style stores within the network and has already begun the implementation of this strategy in five sites nationwide.

The group comprises of 420 independently owned stores throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all trading under the Mace banner.

The company plans to open 30 new stores by the end of 2004 and with the creation of 750 jobs.

Work is already under way on new Mace supermarkets in Dundalk, Carlow, Castlerea, Limerick and Dublin's IFSC. A sixth store will be opening shortly in Bandon, Co Cork.
