EQUESTRIAN: Denis Lynch took Ireland's first top five place at the four-star competition in Bremen, Germany today with the bay gelding 'Abbervail van het Dingeshof'.

The 32 year-old Tipperary rider was a little under two seconds off the pace of German winner Tony Hassmann with 'Queen Liesa' in the Winning Round competition, but took third and was one of just five riders to go clear in both rounds of the 1m45 class.

Lynch is joined in Bremen by another Tipperary rider, Thomas Ryan, 23, who now rides out of a Swiss stable.

The show's main Grand Prix takes place tomorrow morning.
