Loughnane to learn fate on Tuesday

GER LOUGHNANE will find out on Tuesday night whether or not he will be Galway hurling manager for next season

GER LOUGHNANE will find out on Tuesday night whether or not he will be Galway hurling manager for next season. Delegates attending a meeting of Galway Hurling Board in Athenry will decide on his fate when they are asked to ratify his appointment for another year.

And it has emerged that if the Clareman holds on to the position for a third year, players will be asking him to make changes to his backroom set-up.

Players discussed the management position at a meeting on Sunday night amid calls for change if Loughnane remains in charge.

The players met to discuss and take a stance on the proposed move into Leinster, but subsequently had a debate about management structures.

Two prospective management teams, one led by Michael Bond and the other by Jimmy Heverin, have come forward indicating an interest in the job should it become vacant.
