Losing the thread

It's all fallen apart

It's all fallen apart

your black and ivory silk blouse

the one you loved you let slip

into a bucket of bleach.

Hours lapse in the full

frenzy of house-cleaning

as colours leech

to a winding-sheet.

Everything has its run

and what the worm has spun

is now parchment. Retted

useless it will have to go

so just drape it

by your window to dry out.

Allow a breeze to arouse

this curtain of your house.
