London - Four people were injured last night when a Virgin train with around 400 passengers derailed in Scotland.
The front four carriages of the 10.30 a.m. express from London Euston left the tracks at 7.05 p.m. at Mossend South Junction, seven miles south of Glasgow.
Railtrack said the stretch of track was not under any of the speed restrictions imposed after last month's Hatfield crash but local MP Mr Frank Roy said the train was on a diversion it did not normally use because of the major engineering works over the weekend.
Railtrack's head of corporate affairs, Ms Dorothy Fenwick, said two passengers suffered shock, one received a slight neck injury and one was reported to have received cuts and bruises.
