Mr Valdas Adamkus will make the first visit by a Lithuanian head of state to Ireland on Monday to discuss bilateral co-operation and EU integration, his information department said today.

During his two-day visit, President Adamkus is to meet with President McAleese, the Taoiseach, and the leaders of the Dáil and Seanad.

Mr Adamkus is expected to discuss economic co-operation and Ireland's experience in developing its economy and policy of integration into the European Union.

Mr Adamkus, who will be accompanied by a delegation of Lithuanian businessmen, will also visit Cork city.
