Limerick quickly tagged on another three points for a six point lead but Clare refused wilt.
A Gary Brennan goal helped them back into the game and the teams went in level at 1-7 apiece at the break.
Clare could only manage two points after the break, however, as Limerick scored six to book their spot in their first provincial final for six years.
