Liam Lawlor has arrived at Mountjoy jail to begin his week-long prison sentence.
Liam Lawlor: found
to be in contempt |
A spokesman for Mountjoy said Lawlor arrived at the jail at around 12:30 p.m.
Lawlor was driven into the prison through a back entrance and managed to avoid the large media presence.
The former Fianna Fáil man was found to be in contempt of court on Monday for failing to comply with a court order to provide the Flood tribunal with all of his company and financial records.
No appeal against the sentence was lodged but it is thought Lawlor was discussing the issue with his legal team as late as this morning.
Mr Justice Smyth fined Lawlor £10,000 and sentenced him to three months in prison. He directed that seven days of the sentence be served, but suspended the balance of the sentence.
