The Leitrim Sculpture Centre in Manorhamilton is seeking applications for its year-long, full-time course which starts in September. The centre, which has attracted many artists to settle in the county, has built an impressive reputation.

It provides training in stone carving, wood carving, modelling, moulding and casting. A number of successful artists have worked there. The course culminates in a group exhibition.

Applicants should be over 25 and be eligible for a FÁS Community Employment Scheme. The closing date for applications is June 28th. Further information from 072-55098 or lsc@eircom.ie

The seventh annual Dr Douglas Hyde summer school of traditional Irish music and dance takes place in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, from June 30th-July 6th. In addition to classes and recitals, there will be nightly sessions and céilís. There will also be lectures, including one by Ciaran MacMathuna on "My Job of Journey Work".
