The Government has ruled out making any change to a constituency review that has angered politicians in Co Leitrim because they claim it will leave the county without a TD.

Members of the Save Leitrim Campaign group met in Dublin yesterday to make their case to the Minister for the Environment, Mr Roche.

The delegation was told that the status of the constituency could be reviewed after the census due in 2006.

"There will be no change. The Minister obviously had the courtesy to listen to their view," said Mr Roche's spokesman, who said there had been a "frank exchange" at the meeting.
