The Leinster Council were unable to resolve the controversial issue surrounding the number of substitutes used by Offaly during their Bank of Ireland Senior Football Championship win over Kildare at Croke Park yesterday.
Tonight's meeting in Portlaoise was called following allegations that Offaly used six substitutes. Concern centres on the replacement of full forward Pascal Kellaghan by James Coughlan under the blood substitution rule after 15 minutes of the game, which Offaly went on to win by three points.
At half-time Kellaghan reappeared instead of Trevor Phelan. Offaly made two further replacements in the second half to bring their total to six. Match officials have supported Offaly's claim that they used just five substitutes as well as one blood substitute.
The Committee listened to submissions by representatives from both Offaly and Kildare but couldn't come to a satisfactory decision.
A statement issued by the Leinster Games Administration Committee said they will "seek an interpretation from Central Council on Rule 2.4 of the Rules of Specification and the Blood Rule".
