Workers at Tara Mines will begin receiving notice of layoffs this morning. The notice is due to expire on November 30th. The layoffs are due to a strike by 230 miners who are members of SIPTU.
More than 600 people work at Tara Mines, the largest employer in Co Meath. The dispute is over interpretation of a February agreement.
