Monrovia - Four foreign journalists being held in Liberia on spying charges have been tortured, a defence lawyer, Mr Varney Sherman, said yesterday.

"At 6.00 p.m. last night, my clients were taken to the National Security Agency where they were subjected to torture," Mr Sherman said in court.

The TV crew were arrested on Friday on suspicion of collecting sensitive information to injure Liberia's image.
