Former Dublin West TD Mr Liam Lawlor was told by a High Court taxing master yesterday he must pay another €132,000 in legal costs to the Flood tribunal. This brings to almost €730,000 the bill Mr Lawlor has been ordered to pay to the tribunal's legal team.
Taxing master Mr Charles Moran's decision related to the sixth legal bill sent on behalf of the tribunal lawyers concerning High Court proceedings they have taken against Mr Lawlor. The total for the previous five bills was about €600,000.
The €132,000 relates to Mr Lawlor's appearance in the High Court in February when he was sentenced to a month's imprisonment for contempt of court by Mr Justice Smyth.
He was also fined €10,000. The bill submitted by the tribunal was for €152,000 but Mr Moran reduced it by €20,000.
The February appearance was the third time Mr Lawlor was sent to prison for not co-operating with the tribunal.
A stay was granted on the €132,000 bill in the event of an appeal. Mr Lawlor has lodged an appeal against the €600,000 for the five other bills. It is due to be heard on July 24th.
