The two-week work-to-rule by IMPACT members at the Land Registry has ended following agreement by the Department of Justice to re-enter talks on staffing and promotions. Management had threatened to begin suspending staff yesterday because of the work-to-rule and IMPACT had indicated this would cause an all-out strike.

The breakthrough came late yesterday when IMPACT negotiators agreed to accept the offer of renewed talks without preconditions, with referral of the dispute to third-party arbitration if direct talks failed. IMPACT assistant general secretary Mr Peter Nolan welcomed the invitation to talks last night.
