London - Labour MPs opposed to the bombing of Afghanistan last night forced a symbolic House of Commons vote over the campaign.

The rebels were defeated by the Government 373 to 13, a government majority of 360. The protest was symbolic and the rebels, led by Mr Tam Dalyell, hope the move will put pressure on ministers to allow a fully-fledged vote on the military campaign at a later stage.
