Labour dismissive of Scargill

LONDON - Labour yesterday poured scorn on Mr Arthur Scargill in his attempts to launch a new socialist breakaway party

LONDON - Labour yesterday poured scorn on Mr Arthur Scargill in his attempts to launch a new socialist breakaway party. It comes after a copy of the constitution of the Socialist Labour Party (SLP) was leaked to the London Independent.

The document says if members "join or support" any other political body, "they shall be ineligible for affiliation to the party".

It is expected the launch of the SLP in May will automatically lead the expulsion of Mr Scargill and others involved Labour Party. The deputy Labour leader, Mr John Prescott, yesterday said Mr Scargill's efforts were "a lot of huffing and puffing".
