Labour Party Senator Derek McDowell has launched a pre-election advertising campaign in his Dublin constituency aimed at highlighting what he claims is a "shameless" waste of public money by the Government.

Mr McDowell, who was recently selected by Labour to run for a Dáil seat in the Dublin North Central constituency, told ireland.comtoday that the purpose of the campaign was to highlight overspending by the Government on "wasteful" projects.

"This campaign takes the Government to task over the recent revelations regarding the scandalous waste of millions of euro on failed projects such as e-voting, PPARS and Government websites that don't exist.

"Fianna Fáil has lost the plot. The Government has wasted millions upon millions and it doesn't even seem to notice the anger this has caused One minister even had to cheek to suggest that the 150 million euro that went down the drain on the PPARS system was 'very, very small'."

He claimed constituents in Dublin North Central had had enough of Fianna Fáil and it was time to call a halt to the spending.
