Kuwait - Security forces regained control of a residential area of Kuwait yesterday after two days of rioting by Egyptian workers, apparently triggered by row over a broken plate, in the one of the worst disturbances to have hit the Gulf state.

Diplomats and witnesses said several hundred Egyptians had been arrested, but there was no official confirmation of arrests or injuries.
