Kilkenny 2-23 Wexford 2-12
Kilkenny won their sixth Leinster senior hurling title in a row this afternoon following a hard earned victory over Wexford at Croke Park.
Both defences held the upper hand in a tight first half that saw Wexford goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry at his brilliant best to deny Eddie Brennan two goal chances.
Rory Jacob and Paul Codd combined late in the half to peg back Kilkenny's slender lead and the sides took to the break level at eight points apiece.
Kilkenny, however, emerged for the second period a hungrier team and quickly set about putting distance between themselves and their opponents.
Brennan was not to be denied his goal and netted just one minute after the restart.
Barry Lampard gave Wexford a glimmer of hope with a goal of his own late in the half.
Chris McGrath goaled in the dying stages to put just four points between the sides but a string of late points and a classy Henry Shefflin goal rounded off another memorable day for the All-Ireland champions.
