Hundreds of government soldiers were reported killed and many more wounded when Tamil Tiger (LTTE) rebels captured a key town in northern Sri Lanka yesterday after intense fighting. The separatists said they overran the town of Oddusudan after a nine-hour battle and were planning to return the bodies of soldiers through the International Red Cross. The LTTE statement was released from the group's London office.
