Kerry Group has acquired a food ingredient division of ICI  in a deal valued at $440 million.

The deal to secure Quest is the largest acquisition by the company in the food ingredients market since the acquisition of Dalgety Food Ingredients in March 1998.

Quest will be part of the Kerry group for about eight months in the current year.

Management plan to run it on a stand-alone basis initially but will integrate it gradually with the existing group.
