Tory leader Mr William Hague must have a "deep sense of despair" about the election campaign, Mr Charles Kennedy said yesterday.
The Liberal Democrat leader questioned Mr Hague and his party's "capacity" to fight an effective campaign in an interview with a political website.
Mr Kennedy said: "I think in his private moments, William Hague must feel deeply frustrated and have a deep sense of despair about his own capacity and the capacity of his party to deliver anything like an effective General Election as things are presently developing."
There was a "sense of incredulity at William Hague's party", according to Mr Kennedy.
