Soccer:Robbie Keane brought the curtain down on his loan spell at Celtic with another goal as Neil Lennon's side ended the season with a run of eight SPL wins in a row. Keane, who will return to Tottenham in the summer, opened the scoring against Hearts for his 16th goal in 19 games since arriving in January.
That was cancelled out by Jambos skipper Marius Zaliukas before a wonderful volley by Chinese midfielder Zheng Zhi on the hour mark gave Lennon a 2-1 win and the perfect end to his time as interim manager.
After Harry Redknapp’s comments during the week that he wants the Republic of Ireland back at White Hart Lane next term, Keane revealed he plans to return to London.
“I’m a Tottenham player aren’t I?” he said afterwards. “I’ve got a contract with Tottenham so I will be back there unless someone tells me different. I don’t want to be disrespectful to Tottenham, I’ve got a contract there so as far as I’m concerned I will be back there.
“I’m delighted with my goal, obviously, that’s why I’m here, to score goals. I’m judged on scoring goals and I’m happy with my performance.”
Hibernian pipped Motherwell for fourth place to secure European football thanks to a 2-0 win at Dundee United. Colin Nish broke the deadlock after 12 minutes with a weak shot that United goalkeeper Dusan Pernis should have saved.
And the Hibs striker scored his second with a diving header after 72 minutes to ensure his side finished the season on a high. Motherwell staged an impressive late comeback to draw 3-3 at Rangers in the game of their season.
Rangers thought they would be marking their trophy presentation with a win thanks to a Kris Boyd goal and a double from Kyle Lafferty. But Well hit back through Jamie Murphy before goals from Steve Jennings and Lucas Jutkiewicz earned a last-gasp draw.
But Hibs’ win means the Lanarkshire side now need Dundee United to win the Scottish Cup to earn European football next term.
