Boxing: Three-time world champion Katie Taylor suffered an unexpected defeat at the Strandja Multi-Nations in Pazardjik, Bulgaria, on Saturday when she lost to local boxer Denica Eliseeva in the 60Kg final.
The Bray woman and AIBA World boxer of the year was beaten 5-1 by an opponent she dismissed 16-1 in the 2010 European Union final.
According to RTE, her father and coach Peter claimed afterwards his daughter bossed the fight and should have won by 20 points.
Taylor reached the lightweight final with a 6-3 win over English southpaw Natasha Jonas yesterday.
