Racing: Kalderon has had a successful operation on a fractured shoulder at Troytown Veterinary Hospital in Kildare following a fall at Punchestown.

However, the next few days are crucial according to his trainer Tom Hogan. The eight-year-old gelding sustained the injury when taking a tumble at the eighth fence in the Buck House Novice Chase on Thursday.

"He's come out his operation well. We are hopeful, but the next three or four days are crucial to see if everything stays in place and no infection gets in," said the County Tipperary trainer.

"The staff at Troytown are happy with the surgery they carried out.

"Please God he'll be all right, he's a smashing old horse."
