JW Anderson shows spring collection in Dublin

Designer in top gear for collaboration with car firm

Fashion’s golden boy, 28-year-old Derry-born, London-based designer JW Anderson was in Dublin’s Hanover Quay last night to present his spring women’s collection.

The event – the first time he has shown in Ireland – marked the launch of Opel’s new Adam car, for which he created a “print wrap”.

“It’s nice to do something in your own country and I was given free reign to do what I wanted,” he said.

The collection featured frilled asymmetrical jersey knits and splash-printed wrapover tops and neoprene suits, along with the graffiti print used on the car.

Anderson launched a menswear brand in 2007 and added womenswear two years ago.

Having started as a visual merchandiser for Prada in Brown Thomas, his expansion has moved at a breathtaking rate in the past 12 months.

His collection for Topshop was the most successful ever for the chain; he scooped the emerging talent Award at the British Fashion Awards in November; and was headhunted to design Versus for Versace.
