WINCHESTER - In his closing speech to the jury, footballer Hans Segers's counsel urged them to free the former Wimbledon goalkeeper and his family from the agony that has hung over them for two years.

Segers, the former Aston Villa and Wimbledon striker John Fashanu, the former Liverpool and Southampton goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar, and Malaysian businessman, Mr Heng Suan Lim, deny conspiring to give and accept corrupt payments.
