The jury in the trial of a teacher accused of indecently assaulting a primary school pupil in 1982 has been sent to a hotel after it failed to reach a verdict at the Central Criminal Court.

Mr Justice Kinlen sent the jury away after almost three hours' deliberation on the sixth day of the trial. The 45-year-old accused pleads not guilty to indecently assaulting an 11-year-old girl between January 1st and December 31st, 1982, in a west Dublin school storeroom.
