The Jury has been discharged from the trial of a south Leinster businessman who is charged with raping and indecently assaulting three nieces between 1966 and 1980.

The 44-year-old contractor has pleaded not guilty to 18 charges of raping one of the women and 22 charges of indecently assaulting her; seven charges of raping and one of indecently assaulting her eldest sister; and four charges of indecently assaulting the third woman.

Mr Justice O'Sullivan told the jury on the second day of the trial at the Central Criminal Court that due to legal argument the trial could not continue.
