A Massachusetts judge has ordered a broker who introduced clients to accused financial swindler Bernard Madoff to testify before the state's top financial regulator, the regulator's office said today.
A state superior court judge has ordered Robert Jaffe, who helped raise money for Madoff, to testify at an agreeable time within the next two weeks, said Brian McNiff, a spokesman for Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin.
The ruling came after Jaffe twice failed to appear for scheduled testimony this month even though he was subpoenaed by Mr Galvin's office in December.
Mr Jaffe, a Massachusetts native with roots in Boston financial circles, has said he is as much a victim of Madoff's alleged $50 billion fraud as anyone else.
