A DUBLIN waste-disposal company which failed to live up to its name had been fined £800 for breaching the anti-litter pollution laws, the Circuit Civil Court was told yesterday.

Mr Michael Coen, counsel for All Away Waste, told Judge Alison Lindsay yesterday his client was appealing against the maximum fine which had been imposed in the District Court after the company failed to appear.

Mr Coen said the company had several waste-disposal trucks on the road. On this occasion the litter warden had noticed some waste dropping from a skip. Judge Lindsay, reducing the fine to £200, heard the company had overlooked paying a litter warden's £25 on-the-spot fine and turning up for the District Court prosecution.
