AMMAN - The Jordanian Prime Minister, Mr Abdul Karim al Kabariti, yesterday urged Arab states to come to Sudan's aid in its fight against secessionist rebels, saying the Khartoum government was facing a plot against its "territorial unity".

The Sudan People's Liberation Army said a joint rebel force had captured the town of Maban on the southern front of the Blue Nile region as the government poured in forces to counter the rebel advance.
