A joiner who took electricity illegally in his new home has been fined £250

A joiner who took electricity illegally in his new home has been fined £250. Cookstown Magistrates Court was told yesterday that Paul Nugent (36), of Ridgewood Avenue, Moy, Co Tyrone, had drilled a hole in the power meter and inserted wire. As a result, the units of electricity being used were not registering.

Mr Paddy Mallon, defending, said Nugent was under considerable financial pressure at the time, as he had just moved into a new house.
