Michael Johnson will make his final track appearance when anchoring a unique relay in Yokohama on September 15th, the Japan Amateur Athletics Federation said today.

The double world record holder, who will turn 34 two days before the race, will run a 400 metres as the final stage of the so-called "Sweden relay", with its first three sections covering 100, 200 and 300 metres, respectively.

Johnson, the winner of five Olympic gold medals and nine world titles, will anchor "Team MJ" with Marcus Brunson, Edmonton world championships relay winner Derrick Brew and Seville world championships relay winner Jerome Davis.

According to the schedule given to the organisers by Johnson's management, his race at the Yokohama stadium will be the final competition of his career.

Nine world champions from Edmonton and six gold medallists from Sydney as well as five world record holders will take part in the annual meet.
