Up to seven sites designated for employment creation along the N11 in Co Wicklow may be removed from the county development plan.
According to a manager’s report drawn up as part of the drafting of the 2010-2016 plan, the employment zones, included in the 2004-2010 plan, are outside designated settlement areas.
Council planners said they had not been developed in the last seven years and should be deleted in line with national planning policy.
However, councillors have resisted the move.
The draft is to be the subject of further public consultation until June 30th.
