NFL: The New York Jets wasted little time in giving Tim Tebow a new home after Peyton Manning's arrival at the Denver Broncos. Manning's introduction yesterday meant Tebow was surplus to requirements, with the four-time MVP bound to want to run his own offence.

Almost as the ink was drying on Manning's contract possible destinations were cropping up for Tebow, with teams such as Jacksonville, New England and even Green Bay cited.

The Big Apple will be the next home for the NFL's biggest star though, with the Jets trading a fourth and sixth round pick in return for Tebow and a seventh-rounder from the Broncos.

Despite obvious concerns over his throwing capability, Tebow's running power and sheer will to win managed to get the Broncos into the play-offs last season.

Tebow made numerous fourth-quarter comebacks and even throw a thrilling touchdown pass to beat the famed Pittsburgh Steelers in the play-offs, before the Broncos lost to the Patriots.

Incumbent Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez led the Jets to within one game of the Super Bowl in his first two seasons in New York, but he has been criticised from all corners in the last year, including from inside his own locker room.

The Jets still handed him a new contract this off-season though and the chance to assert himself as the team's leader, but he will come under instant and intense pressure with the addition of Tebow.

Although initially Tebow will probably be used just in short yardage situations or on the goal line, if Sanchez starts misfiring, calls will soon come out for Tebow to start under centre.

It could go the other way though, as Sanchez could finally have a real threat to his position and that could wake him up and force him to produce his very best on a consistent basis, either way it will be interesting to see what happens in New York next season.
