X-Factor starts Jedward will press ahead with their planned Irish tour next month, despite a leg injury which has left one of the twins needing surgery.

Dublin-based teenager Edward Grimes – who performs as Jedward with twin brother John – had a fall at the weekend and tore ligaments in his knee.

Their manager Louis Walsh said the incident happened at the T4 On the Beach in Britain yesterday.

He said Edward would require surgery on his injuries.

“He is expected to make a quick recovery and Jedward are determined to see out their album promotion and Irish tour commitments,” Walsh said.

Jedward will commence their summer tour at Vicar Street in Dublin on August 4th. Concerts are also scheduled for Omagh, Drogheda, Dungannon, Cork, Letterkenny, Galway, Derry, Limerick and other venues.

The Lucan twins sold 40,000 tickets for a 27-date tour last April.
