Jamaican sprinter Patrick Jarrett has been found guilty of taking the banned drug stanozolol by the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) its president said today.

JAAA president Pat Anderson said an executive committee had endorsed the findings of a five-member panel that recommended the guilty verdict last Friday after several meetings with Jarrett and his lawyer.

"Basically we have upheld the findings of the panel" Anderson said.

"We are satisfied that the sample taken was not contaminated and it was his. We have found him guilty and we will be communicating our findings to the IAAF for them to impose the necessary penalty."

He finished second in the 100m at the championships, earning himself a place in Jamaica's world athletics championship team.

Jarrett's lawyer Patrick Bailey said he would appeal the decision to the IAAF council.
