Jacques Santer to speak at Trinity

One of the most famous names in European politics is to address Dublin's Trinity college today.

Jacques Santer, former president of the European Commission, will speak to Trinity's Philosophical Society tonight from 7.30pm.

Mr Santer is a former MEP, MP for Luxembourg, and minister of finance for Luxembourg and served as the country's prime minister from 1984 until 1995.

The university has recently attracted such notables as US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Former Conservative Party Leader Michael Howard, director Oliver Stone and actor Al Pacino.
